The Big Bad Wolf Romance Compilation Bundle Books 14 edition by Heather KilloughWalden Paranormal Romance eBooks

This is a four book bundle by Heather Killough Walden. I have to say that the first The Heat books in the bundle, I could not tell the bad guy from the good guy; as the heroines are ill treated by both. I was yelling at the books to slow down and develop the paranormal world building. The first book was really good up until the hero, who happens to be the chief of police handcuffs the heroine. Then the book slid downhill for me. I just don't like abusive heroes. I can take an alpha man, but the need for abuse and the heroine supposedly getting off on the dirty talk by her kidnapper was too much for me.

So it goes with is compilation. The author is a good writer, but the actual romantic stories is what I had problem with as I never felt a connection with her characters. I did not feel a connection between the lead character with each other. I felt like I was an outsider looking in and never drawn into the stories, they aren't bad stories, just not very filling. They are the type where you'll read it and tomorrow you will forget the characters names.

The Big Bad Wolf Romance Compilation Bundle Books 14 edition by Heather KilloughWalden Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews

I read her Kings series first and thoroughly enjoyed it. Patiently waiting for the next book. Maybe because I read that series first and this one leads into it, I'm a little jaded. The characters show up through out the Kings series, so I already knew them and thought I'd like to get their full stories. While I enjoyed getting to know these characters, the way this author finds it necessary to remind us throughout each story, the background of the characters from previous stories, wears on my nerves. Mentioning it once in each story is one thing, but to mention it each time the characters comes on a scene, annoying. I u nude r stand as books are released you need a refresher where the last in the series ended, but I don't need to be reminded Daniel is the chief of police in Baton Rouge every time he's mentioned. I found myself jumping ahead quite a bit. Otherwise, it was a good series and very good mix of paranormal characters. You do not have to read this series before Kings as you do get enough background of each as they show up in that series.
Ok the reason why I give this 4 stars instead of 5 is because in the 1st book I personally didn't really like Daniel Kane.. i don't know if it is because she really focused on Lily that there wasn't much for Daniel as a matter of fact I forgot his name...if it wasn't because it was repeated in the other books...I was rooting for Malcom from the start. There are also quite a few grammatical errors...and there are so many characters that it was really confusing in the beginning. Not to mention that two characters are named Claire.st or st. Claire. Besides that the books pulled me in. The plot is awesome and makes you want to continue reading. Which I am definitely going to do and purchase the king series.
I have to say that honestly I didn’t really give this book a fair shot as I just couldn’t keep reading this any further- which I might add is extremely rare for me. The writing and execution is extremely juvenile and reads like a YA book entirely in the third person. There is no real world- building that I had seen by the time I threw in the towel and the characters were extremely lacking. I’m sure had I continued with the storyline, I may have found some interest there (maybe) but as it stands, I can’t get past the writing style. Its over simplistic nature and lack of detail was just too aggravating for me.
Originally, I bought The Hunt, the fourth of the series, first. I read that, and instantly wanted to read the first three, even if it was out of order. Ms. Killough-Walden gifted me the compilation, and I read through the other books in one sitting.

Summary
The Heat Lily St. Claire is a southern girl who moves back to her home town. She has no idea that her friend's brother and another alpha wolf will start to fight in order to claim her as their mate.
The Strip Malcolm Cole sets his hopes on Claire St. James, a beautiful women with an amazing gift. But he is not alone in his hunt for her.
The Spell Dannai is a healer who hides the fact that she is a dormant. But when she dreams of wolves, her world is no longer the same. Lucas Caige is one of the wolves. And he will stop at nothing to get her.
The Hunt Katherine Dare, a Hunter, has wanted revenge for her father for years. She believes that Byron Caige, a man imprisoned for fifty years, is the one who killed him. But, she's his dormant. A war between Hunters, wolves, and more paranormal beings breaks out. Should Kat believe Byron? Or should she fight?

What I Liked Unfortunately for me, I read the fourth book first, and then the first, second, and third. However, I liked how I was still interested in each story, even though I knew how the first three were resolved. Each story was enthralling in its own way. My personal favorite was The Hunt. I loved Byron and Kat, and the war action that ensued. The Heat was my second favorite, because I liked the simplicity of it, as the first of a series. As each book came, the author's writing got better and more natural. Each character was unique and had a distinctive being. It was hard not to like certain characters, and to dislike others.

What I Did Not Like I personally found The Strip a little distasteful compared to the other three books. Charlie did not interest me and I could not find myself in her shoes, experiencing or believing what she felt. She seemed more flat than the other heroines. All of her "special" powers and who she was was not really convincing. The Strip was still a great read, characters aside.

Would I Recommend It Yes. Especially for only $3.99. This is a romance series, and for that reason I'd say mature upper teens and adults would highly enjoy this series.

Rating 5 stars. Ms. Killough-Walden got better and better with each book, and I will continue to read her books.

This is a fabulous series! You will not be disappointed )
